Emirates to launch a daily service to Edinburgh

Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines has announced that they have added a daily service between Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh and Dubai. This new route will commence from 1 October 2018.

Edinburgh will become the Gulf carriers second destination on Scotland after Glasgow, it’s the 8th destination in the United Kingdom that Emirates flies to, this new route will be implemented once the new London Stansted route commences in June. This daily service to Edinburgh will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER in a three class configuration. The Boeing 777-300ER offers 8 luxurious private suites at the pointy end of the plane in First Class, 42 lie flat seats in Business and up to 304 spacious seats in Economy.

The popular Scottish capital, with is Medieval Old Town and the Elegant Georgian New Town. Edinburgh is the second most visited city in the United Kingdom by travellers, the city offers a huge amount of tourist attractions, such as museums that are packed full of history, galleries, historical architecture, a gourmet food scene as well as hosting many international festivals and cultural events. It’s also the first city in the world to be designated a UNESCO City Of Literature, while last year it was named by the European Union as the top city of its size in Europe for culture and creativity.

The flight into Edinburgh EK023 departs Dubai (DXB) at 0955hrs and arrives into Edinburgh (EDI) at 1450hrs the same day, with a flying time of eight hours. The return sector EK024, flying back into Dubai leaves Edinburgh (EDI) at 2015hrs and arrives back into Dubai (DXB) the following day at 0640hrs, with an approximate flight time of seven and a half hours.

Emirates have chosen these departure and arrival times to work perfectly for onwards connections via the airlines hub, Dubai. Popular destinations for Scottish travellers include Bangkok, Lahore, Hong Kong, Singapore, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. Customers can chose over 90 exciting destinations under the Emirates and flydubai partnership.

Hubert Frach, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, West said “We’re increasing our capacity to Scotland to meet growing demand… Edinburgh is a very popular leisure and business destination, and the new service will offer our customers from across our global network, particularly from key inbound markets such as Asia and Australia.

Those customers who are lucky enough to be travelling at the pointy end of the plane, in First and Business class can enjoy the journey as soon as they step out the door, by taking advantage of the complimentary chauffeur drive service, which can pick you up at your departure location and be there waiting for you at your arrival destination. Passengers who are flying out of Dubai can also use Emirates’ new check-in at home service.

The Boeing 777-300ER is equipped with the onboard entertainment system ICE. ICE provides passengers with television, films and games. You can stay connected by text message, phone and emails right from the comfort of your seat, while all being accessed by the entertainment screens in the back of each seat.
