Emirates has introduced a new immersive 3D, 360 degree experience of their aircraft interiors, available now at emirates.com, making the Middle-Eastern carrier the first to introduce Virtual Reality (VR) on its digital platform.
Immerse yourself in the 360 degree interior cabin views of the Airbus A380-800 superjumbo, the flagship aircraft of Emirates. Customers now have the chance to explore not only their own seats prior to booking their ticket, but also being able to explore the other cabins on offer, including having a sneaky look through the Business Class an First Class cabins, as well as viewing the Emirates on board offerings.
Customers can navigate through the Economy Class, Business Class and First Class cabins on board, as well as the iconic social hub in the sky, the on board bar and the large luxurious shower spas which are reserved for those lucky passengers in First Class. There are navigational hotspots throughout the virtual reality tour allowing for an interactive experience. Clicking on these navigational points allows for a more detailed description of the features within the aircraft.
“As we continually invest to provide our customers with an unmatched travel experience on board and on the ground, we also work very hard to give our customers a world-class digital experience.” Said Alex Knigge, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand (Digital).
We are pleased to be the world’s first airline to introduce this cutting edge web VR technology, which offers our customers an immersive opportunity to learn more about the fantastic Emirates experience before they step on board. In our usability tests with customers, we found that they particularly appreciated the 3D seat and cabin models when selecting their seats.” Mr Knigge, added.
High quality rendered 3D computer generated images offer an incredible realistic feel to it that makes it so close to reality. Currently you can only our the Airbus A380-800 in Virtual Reality, but developers and designers are working together on getting the entire Emirates fleet uploaded, including all the various configurations of the A380, Boeing 777-200 and Boeing 777-300 aircrafts.
Users can enjoy the full immersive cabin experience by using and additional VR headset, such as Samsung Gear VR or Google Cardboard. This is compatible without having to download any additional software, applications or plugins. The virtual models were created in partnership with Renacen who were recently awarded the Crystal Cabin award for ‘best visionary concept’ for this project at the Crystal Cabin Awards.
Those customers accessing emirates.com via their mobile device prior to checking in online will be able to explore their seats before checking in with the 3D seat map, allowing customers to book their preferred seats from within the 3D environment. In addition to the new 3D Virtual Reality cabin models, new up to date product videos are now available online to demonstrate the end to end travel experience across all its cabins.
