Event Hotel Group News

As many of my Adelaide based readers would have noticed over the last twelve months a new building has been under construction at Adelaide Airport. This new building will be home to the new 165 room Atura Hotel. The seven story design driven hotel is situated down the north eastern end of the Adelaide Airport terminal precinct. The entertainment, hospitality and leisure company Event Hospitality and Entertainment Ltd (EVENT) is in charge of the development and operations of the hotel.
This is the first airport hotel that Adelaide has ever had, especially one that is situated next door to the airport…. Quite literally next door! A newly constructed walkway will utilise the previously once used pick-up/drop-off ramp as a direct link with the hotel and the airports Level 2 domestic and international check in areas. The hotel will feature a restaurant and bar area, business centre, flexible function and meeting spaces, plus a port-cochere for guest drop off and collection.
The multi-award winning hotel chain Atura launched in late 2013 in Blacktown, Sydney. Since then the hotel chain has grown steadily, now operating in three locations Australia wide with the soon to be opened Adelaide Airport hotel bringing the total to four. This is the first time we have had an Atura Hotel in Adelaide.
As with each hotel they all have a unique signature look that they like to portray in their properties to create a ‘brand’. Atura has a free flowing design with various communal spaces which are all ear marked to be key design features in the hotel, along with an urban and industrial look. The restaurant, bar, lobby and general communal public spaces will be integrated seamlessly with the broader airport terminal and can be accessed by all travellers, not just those guests staying at the hotel.
“Packed with personality and with a focus on great design and quality food and drink offerings, Atura Hotels offer design-savvy travellers a fresh travel experience; one we believe will hold great appeal for all airport precinct visitors and not just hotel guests.” said David Seargeant, Group Managing Director of Event Hospitality and Entertainment Limited.
“Atura Hotels offers contemporary and functional hospitality spaces with an exceptional food and beverage offering that we believe will offer a real point of difference to the airport precinct. We’re delighted to be selected as the first airport in Australia to welcome the brand.” commented Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Mark Young.
South Australian Tourism Minister, Leon Bignell said that “Visitors are flocking to Adelaide to experience our vibrant city, much-loved food and wine regions, accessible natural experiences and our exciting line up of world-class events. Now, they will have a fantastic new accommodation option at the heart of our world-class airport.”
The new Atura Hotel will provide over eight million passengers travelling though the airport precinct each year an opportunity to experience the friendly Atura hospitality as well as showing off the quality food and beverage offering that South Australia is known for. The hotel will also help build the South Australian tourism economy in the process with the South Australian Government aiming to reach the $8 billion tourism industry goal by 2020.
The hotel will offer guests 24 hour reception, complimentary wifi throughout the hotel, an onsite gym with various pieces of gym equipment, a business centre and each room will feature the super comfortable Rydges Dream Beds offering a comfortable night’s sleep. The Hangar Bar and Grill will offer all customers a Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner service.
Construction is set to be completed over the next few months with the rooms currently getting fitted out. The opening date remains unchanged since its original announcement, with the doors opening on the 1 September 2018, with reservations now being taken. Currently the hotel has opening specials on offer for stays from the 1 September 2018 to 31 January 2019. Rooms start from as low as $155 ($139 for PGR Members).
I’m thoroughly looking forward to my stay during the opening week to see what the hotel has to offer, so stay tuned on a review coming up in the later part of this year.
