Emirates open their own dedicated airport lounge in Cairo

On the 12 July 2018, Emirates unveiled its 42nd dedicated airport lounge across its global network at Cairo International Airport (CAI). The lounge is now open to those lucky passengers travelling in First Class and Business Class on any Emirates flight departing Cairo. Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members will also be allowed to access the lounge. Emirates have previously been using a third party lounge in Cairo International Airport, but now they finally have a lounge to themselves, with Emirates investing over $3.6 million (AUD$4.8 million) in the new airport lounge.

Currently Emirates operates three daily flights out of Cairo International Airport allowing eligible guests from all of those flights to access the lounge. The $3.6 million dollar investment outlines Emirates ongoing commitment to Egypt. It’s all in the name of providing customers with a seamless and enjoyable experience for their premium customers. Passengers beginning their journey in Cairo now have access to improved levels of comfort, hospitality and convenience.

Passengers beginning their journey in Cairo now have access to improved levels of comfort, hospitality and convenience.

The Emirates Lounge is located on Level 2 of the Departure Terminal (T2), just above the secondary security checkpoint and the duty free shopping area.

“Cairo is our first destination in North Africa with an Emirates Lounge – and it underscores our relentless efforts to enhance the travel experience that we offer to customers not online in the air, but on the ground. We are committed to the highest standards of quality in every aspect of our business and the new Emirates Lounge is a testament to that,” said Mohammed Mattar – Divisional Senior Vice President, Emirates Airport Services.

“We hope to contribute to the country’s tourism industry in a meaningful way and attract both international customers as well as discerning Egyptian travellers with our premium service. Egypt is a very important market for Emirates, and this dedicated lounge demonstrates our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible airport experience,” added Mr Mattar.

The design of the new Emirates Premium Lounge reflects a new, contemporary and fresh design with the lounge seating a maximum of 152 passengers, covering an area of 880m2. The lounge will include some impressive features such as luxurious facilities and amenities, large LED high definition televisions, comfortable leather armchairs, a choice of either a formal dining experience or a relaxed one, bespoke artwork along with separate male and female prayer rooms. To tie in the lounge experience with Emirates on board offering, emirates will offer the complete range of luxury spa products in the lounge from the award winning Irish brand VOYA. The skincare range includes hair and body wash, conditioner, hand cream and hand wash.

The lounge will also feature a relaxed ambience a lounge with a dedicated dining area. There will be an extensive menu of hot and cold buffet options, including local and international dishes and a huge beverage service with various drinks on offer. Emirates’ own premium passengers will also have access to shower facilities and a fully equipped business centre with state of the art touchscreen workstations along with complimentary wifi to all guests on the lounge.

The 42 dedicated lounges across the Emirates network represent an investment of over US$381 million (AUD$512 million).
