Emirates wins the top spot for inflight entertainment for the 14th consecutive year at the Skytrax Awards.

The prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards was held in London this year, seeing many airlines from around the world being awarded some outstanding awards over many different categories. Emirates was awarded the World’s Best Inflight Entertainment award for the 14th year in a row at the Skytrax Awards. The Dubai based carrier also won the award for the best airlines staff service in the Middle East.

The results from the Skytrax Awards are decided on by more than twenty million customers across 100 countries around the world, reviewing 335 airlines throughout the process. Customers were surveyed from August 2017 through to May 2018. The Skytrax awards are often referred to in the airline industry as the global benchmark in airline excellence.

Emirates were the first airline to install television screens in every seat across its whole fleet back in 1992 being a major innovator throughout the whole industry. Currently Emirates provides the most comprehensive and state of the art entertainment and communications services in the skies. The Emirates inflight entertainment system is nicknamed ‘ice’ it offers customers access to over 3,500 channels of entertainment, consisting of over 100 children’s channels and 850 movies from right around the world.

In addition to the content provided by ice, Emirates has been investing in providing its customers with live television on board with over 70 per cent of the airline’s fleet offering live TV including their whole Boeing 777-200LR and Boeing 777-300ER fleet. By having live television on board there’s no need to miss out on your favourite sport, such as the FIFA World Cup when you’re travelling. Passengers can also enjoy a selection of international news channels such as CNN, BBC World News, Sky News, Euro News, CNBC and NHK World. Live television is also available on 170 selected aircraft including on some selected Airbus A380’s.

Wifi is provided to all passengers on 99 per cent of their fleet including all of their Airbus A380’s, Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. Customers traveling across any class on board will receive up to 20 megabytes of free wifi data, with over one million passengers connecting to the service during throughout flight. The on board entertainment is only one part of the Emirates experience, the on board experience is complimented by the airlines own impressive team of over 21,000 cabin crew across 135 countries. Crew members can speak more than 60 languages and are trained in world class facilities in Dubai, to prove their customers with the best Emirates experience.
