Travellers to Tokyo will soon have the opportunity to stay at a brand new hotel, offering the ultimate boutique hotel experience to all its guests. The Kimpton Tokyo Shinjuku will open its doors in 2020, it’s a combined partnership between the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) and Tsukada Global Holidays who are bringing this new property and hotel experience to life.
The new bespoke property will feature a bold, playful design, award winning dining and unique amenities, with three innovative meeting spaces that can accommodate up to 300 people, a well-equipped wellness studio and a multi-function chapel that will bring the ‘Kimpton flare’ to anyone’s special day.
For more than 35 years the Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants has been a pioneer in the industry, the Kimpton brand were the first to introduce the boutique hotel concept to the United States. The hotel brand prides itself on making every traveller feel generally cared for through providing thoughtful perks and amenities along with a sincerely personal style of guest services. Every hotel is individually designed to blend in with the surrounding environment, with the local culture set to deliver a memorable experience, reflective upon the location and its surrounds.
Japan is the newest market for the Kimpton brand, continuing along with its growth trajectory with signings in Greater China and South East Asia, as well as the opening of Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam last year.
It couldn’t be more of a fitting location for the unique luxury hotel than Japan’s Shinjuku area, one of the world’s most famous skyscraper districts that show cases many of Tokyo’s tallest buildings, as well as department stores, subterranean malls, electronics shops, and Kabukicho, one of Japans biggest and liveliest entertainment districts. Its also home to the world’s busiest railway station, serving more than two million passengers every day.
The 162 room hotel will have three restaurants incorporated into the building, bringing to life local and honest food. These restaurants will allow guests and locals to embark on a food journey that is embarking on a uniquely distinct dining experience. In true Kimpton style, the property will offer guests complimentary perks such as morning tea and coffee in the living room lobby and evening social hours where all guests are welcome, allowing them to unwind and recharge.

Tsukada Global Holdings Inc, a long time IHG development partner is in charge of overseeing and developing this hotel, as well as focusing on its other wellness, bridal and relaxation businesses. Currently the development group owns four hotels including the Intercontinental Tokyo Bay and The Strings by Intercontinental Tokyo.
There are currently 66 Kimpton hotels open globally, with another 20 in the pipeline, including Kimpton Bali, Kimpton Shanghai Jing’an, Kimpton Resort Sanya Haitang Bay and Kimpton Hotel Taipei.
