British Airways is changing up its short haul ‘Club Europe’ catering with a huge £4.5 billion pound investment.

As part of British Airways £4.5 billion pound investment for its customers over the next five years it also includes a multi-million pound investment for Club Europe, the airlines short haul business class cabin. Refreshed menus will feature on board with an enhanced food and drink selection. The new menu will be available from September 12 onwards but will be limited to just those flights to and from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.

When flying with the regions own carrier, British Airways you would expect the menu to be based around key British ingredients, and that is exactly what British Airways is trying to accomplish with their new menu offering’s. The enhanced menu will feature a selection of signature breads, shaved Herefordshire roast beef, and British reared pork sausage along with a celebration of popular British cheeses.

If you will be flying to destinations such as Faro and various other longer short haul flights there will now be a choice of two hot meals on board as well as one cold menu item. With this new investment the carrier will now be rotating and changing around the menus every fortnight for those flights to and from London’s Heathrow Airport. Previously the menus were only changed once a month but hopefully with these new changes there will now be a broader selection of menu items to choose from. Even if you are one of the airlines most frequent flyers you won’t become too accustomed to the food and beverage offerings on board.

“Many of our fliers travel regularly so we think they’ll appreciate more variety and great quality ingredients. Our focus on provenance will also deliver seasonal dishes from around the British Isles.” Said Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience.

As well as the enhanced food offering on board, British Airways has also redefined the beverages on board, with some great wines being served in quarter bottles along and amazing tasting coffee provided by British speciality roaster Union Hand-Roasted Coffee. No matter if you’re starting the day with a coffee on an early morning flight or perhaps your relaxing later in the evening you can sit back and relax with a nice glass of wine, either way British airway has you covered.

Short haul economy customers will see the new M&S on board menu, new items featuring on the menu include a chicken and bacon sandwich (which is reported to be one of the retailers top food on the go sellers). For those vegetarians out there travelling, there is also new vegetarian café sandwich selection called “Life On The Veg”.

“We’ve been investing in our meals for customers – our new long-haul Club World menus are proving incredibly popular and we want to be able to replicate that quality and choice in our short haul Club Europe cabin too.”

Lounges are also receiving a makeover as part of the airlines investment. British Airways has already unveiled new lounges in Rome and Aberdeen, portraying the airlines new refreshed design and image. British Airways will soon be opening a new lounge in New York in the coming months with Geneva, San Francisco, Johannesburg, Chicago and Heathrow lounges following closely behind.
