Gaining Platinum One with Qantas is an incredible achievement in itself, but for those travellers who can only dream of reaching this elusive status tier here is what happens in the first two weeks once your account ticks over 3,600 status credits in a twelve month period.

Welcome to Platinum One!

Platinum One is the pinnacle of the airlines frequent flyer program with Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze following behind. Qantas is a member of the Oneworld Alliance, you can easily enjoy all the benefits of its Oneworld Emerald status, just as you would if you were a Platinum member. The extra benefits you receive are mostly with QF flight numbers and Qantas operated flights. Everyone has mentioned to me that getting Platinum One really does change the way that you fly, so much that I may never want to drop back down to a Platinum member.

As soon as your account clicks over the 3,600 status credit mark you will receive a personal phone call from one of the helpful Platinum One support team members, briefly running you through the benefits of Platinum One.

Following on from your personal phone call from the Platinum One team, you will receive an email soon after which includes the dedicated Platinum One support number and email address for you to easily get in contact with a member of the team 24 hours a day, seven days a week, no matter where in the world you are. These contact numbers and details are a Platinum One member’s best kept secret!

One thing that the Platinum One Team suggested was to select your preferences in your account, as these preferences will dictate what special events you could get an invite to. Qantas offers special invitations to the company’s corporate boxes around the country at major sporting and entertainment venues, along with tickets of any events that come up along the way. After all Qantas aren’t going to give you an invitation to the Ballet if your interested in Motor Racing.

There’s good news for the food and wine enthusiasts out there with the Qantas Platinum One Membership includes Premium Membership to Qantas Wine. Qantas Wine is Qantas’ own one stop shop for boutique wines and artesian produce, quite often if you have enjoyed a really nice glass of wine or bubbles on board or in the lounge chances are those products are available to purchase from Qantas Wine. A premium membership gives you privileged access to premium wines, free delivery on all orders within Australia, the ability to earn three points per dollar spent as well as a complimentary gift.

As well as the Premium Qantas Wine Membership, Platinum One members also receive Complimentary Qantas Golf Club Membership, allowing you to earn three points per dollar spent at over 6,000 courses around the world, as well as access to premium private courses across Australia.

As soon as you qualify for Platinum One and your account has reflected these changes you are able to enjoy the benefits of complimentary exit row seating, as well as having the option to select the first few rows of the Economy cabin. These seating options are able to be selected via the Manage My Booking section on the Qantas website.

As this is my first two weeks of holding Platinum One status I am still coming to terms with the multitude of benefits that this card offers. These are just the first few benefits that I have been able to enjoy since my account reflected attaining Platinum One, this is no way by far the full list of benefits that the card offers, there is so much more than what’s listed above.

There will be many more articles relating to my Platinum One Journey, so make sure you follow along on Facebook or Instagram so you don’t miss anything.
